The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command has confirmed that two officers died while three others are currently unconscious following an attack by members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN, popularly known as ‘Shi’ites’.

DAILY POST reports that the Islamic group launched an attack on some personnel of the Nigeria Police Force at Wuse Junction by traffic light on Sunday.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh confirmed the incident.

She said the group attacked the Police checkpoint “wielding machetes, improvised explosive devices (locally made bombs in bottles with kerosene), and knives” leading to the death of some officers.

The PPRO said several arrests have already been made in connection with the killings.

“While several arrests have been effected, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, condemns the unprovoked attack on Police officers.

“He promises to bring those involved to book. The situation is presently under control and normalcy restored.

“Further development will be communicated in due course.”
