A newlywed bride, identified as Saudat, has been arrested by security operatives in Kano State for allegedly stabbing her husband, Salisu, to death just nine days after their wedding.
The tragic incident occurred in the Farawa community of the state, throwing residents into shock and sparking outrage.
According to reports, the couple had tied the knot on Sunday, April 27, 2025, in a marriage reportedly arranged by their families.
Sources within the community disclosed that the late Salisu had initially expressed reservations about the union but was persuaded by relatives to proceed with the marriage.
The relationship, however, was said to be devoid of mutual affection, and cracks had begun to appear shortly after the wedding.
Although the exact circumstances surrounding the killing remain unclear, local residents allege that Saudat may have poisoned her husband before stabbing him during a domestic altercation.
This allegation, however, is yet to be confirmed by the authorities.
Tension gripped the community following the incident, as irate youths attempted to lynch the suspect.
Security operatives were said to have intervened just in time to prevent mob action, swiftly taking Saudat into custody.
The Kano State Police Command has not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
