National Association of Nigerian Students has accused President Muhammad Buhari, the Attorney General of the Federation , Abubarka Malami among other cabals of masterminding the postponement of the Presidential election slated for today, February 16.
The apex students body in the country made this outburst at a press conference which was addressed by the national Public Relations Officer of the body, Com. Adeyemi Azeez eight hours after the election was declared postponed by the electoral umpire on Saturday.
Azeez who accused the President of not living up to expectation added that this postponement would not have been made possible without the knowledge of the President.
The students spokesperson however call for the sack of the INEC chairman saying even his professorship must be investigated.
His words,”For over three months now even till yesterday , INEC has been assuring Nigerians that the commission is fully ready, why now calling off the election on the day of the election.
“NANS still holds the view and sure of the fact that this postponement is not the complete decision of the INEC chairman but comported by some cabals at the presidency.”
The students body however called for the sack of the INEC chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakub
” We seriously need to investigate the professorship of the INEC chairman, he must resign that office. The decision to postpone is robbery of peoples right.
“For crying out loud, INEC and the federal government had enough time to plan for this, what then, could be the reason for the postponement ?.
” The sovereignty of Nigeria should not be toyed with by any selfish leader because our forefathers fought for this and as a result, the unity of Nigeria nation should not be frustrated.
“President Muhammadu Buhari should however be reminded that history will never forgive him, if he is driven by cabals that dose not meant well for the country. He should remember that a peaceful process brought him to power , therefore the responsibility lies on his shoulder to ensure that the security of Nigerians should not be left in the hands of selfish and pronounced thieves, criminals and enemy of the people. “
