In a jubilant and spiritually uplifting gathering, Christians from various denominations converged at the Christ Gospel Mission International, Abeokuta District 2, to commemorate the birth of Christ during a Christmas Carol service titled “Born to Save.”
The church auditorium on Liadi Opebiyi Street, Sabo, Abeokuta State, echoed with joyous Christian songs, fervent bible study, captivating drama, and soul-stirring worship songs.
Christians from different churches showcased their diverse languages in worshipping and celebrating the significance of Christ’s birth.
The Music Director of Abeokuta 2, Deaconess Alabi Oluremi, delivered a warm welcome message, urging Christians to embrace the commandments of God, abstain from sin, and rededicate themselves to serving God and humanity during this festive season.
She emphasized the importance of honoring God, expressing that, “If you honour God, he will also honour you.”
The District Pastor, A. P Benjamin Alabi, delivered a poignant sermon amidst the socio-economic challenges facing the nation.
Pastor Alabi emphasized the need to praise God during turbulent times and encouraged Nigerians to trust in God for positive change.
Referring to the Christmas season as a time for sober reflection, he stressed that it is an opportunity to embrace a new life through Jesus Christ, the savior of the world.
Addressing the congregation, Revered Toyin Adeyemo, Divisional Overseer for Lagos/Ogun, underscored the deeper significance of Christmas beyond merriment.
He urged attendees to reflect on their lives and embrace transformation through Jesus Christ.
The event also saw the presence of notable figures, including Divisional Choir Director Elder Ijaola S., Assistant Divisional Choir Director Deaconess Olaleye Oladunni, Music Director of Abeokuta District 1 Sister Ekundayo Christiana, Evangelist Aina Wale, Revered Elijah Olojede, and Evangelist Akinwunmi.
Pastor Alabi’s call for Nigerians to trust in God and Revered Toyin Adeyemo’s emphasis on sober reflection resonated throughout the gathering.
The message echoed the spirit of Christmas as a time not only for joy but also for introspection, humility, and spreading love throughout the year.
As Christians celebrated the birth of Christ, the carol service at CGMI ABK District 2 became a powerful reminder of the enduring message of hope and peace.
