Suspected political thugs stormed the premises of the Ondo State Oil Development Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) on Wednesday, allegedly  instigated  chaos and brutally assaulting Commissioner Kehinde Akinrotoye, widely known as ‘Bonsue Aketi.’

The targeted attack disrupted the scheduled bursary and scholarship award ceremony organized by the interventionist agency.

Pandemonium erupted in the vicinity as the hoodlums, arriving in hired vehicles, unleashed a barrage of gunfire, compelling both staff and students attending the award ceremony to flee in fear for their safety.

The indiscriminate shooting not only marred the event but also raised serious concerns about the security protocols in place for public gatherings.

Eyewitness accounts reveal that the hoodlums, armed and seemingly organized, deliberately aimed to disrupt the event by shooting sporadically into the premises.

Their actions prevented the ceremony from proceeding as planned and left a trail of destruction in their wake. Notably, the Commissioner’s vehicle, along with another accompanying vehicle, bore the brunt of the attack, sustaining severe damage.

The gravity of the situation necessitated the swift intervention of the Ondo State Police Command, whose officers worked tirelessly to restore order and bring the violent episode under control.

This brazen assault on a government official raises questions about the motives behind the attack and underscores the urgency for a thorough investigation.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of this shocking incident, concerns about the safety of public figures and the need for enhanced security measures during official functions take center stage.

Authorities are urged to delve into the root causes of this attack, ensuring accountability and implementing measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
