The President of the Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Prince Mosediq Adeniji Kazeem (SAN, FCArb), has extended warm greetings to children across the nation and the world, urging them to uphold the values of Islam as they celebrate this year’s Children’s Day.

In a message commemorating the annual event, Kazeem called on children to be obedient and respectful to their parents and elders, in line with Islamic teachings.

“As you celebrate this special day, we want to remind you of the importance of being good children to your parents, as Allah has commanded,” he said.

Citing the Quran, he stressed the virtues of kindness, honesty, humility, and gratitude, encouraging children to follow the example of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

He highlighted six key values children should embrace:

Kindness and Compassion: Treat others with respect and mercy, quoting Quran 17:24 to illustrate the importance of humility toward parents.

Honesty and Integrity: Speak the truth at all times, referencing Quran 33:70 on righteous speech.

Diligence and Knowledge: Pursue education vigorously, noting a Prophetic tradition that seeking knowledge is obligatory for every Muslim.

Health and Well-being: Prioritise physical and mental health, backed by Quran 2:195 which warns against self-destruction.

Obedience and Respect: Honour parents and teachers, with Quran 17:23 emphasizing good treatment of parents.

Gratitude and Generosity: Be thankful and share blessings with others, as Allah promises increase for the grateful (Quran 14:7).

Kazeem described children as “precious and valued” in the eyes of Allah and prayed for their continued growth in wisdom, righteousness, and societal contribution.

“May your childhood be filled with joy, laughter, and wisdom to learn. May you grow up to be righteous, compassionate, and contributing members of society. May Allah be with you always,” he added.

Children’s Day is observed annually on May 27 in Nigeria to celebrate and promote the welfare of children nationwide.
