The Old Students’ Association of Christ Apostolic Grammar School, Iperu-Remo, Ogun State, has launched a week-long celebration of the school’s 65th anniversary, culminating in the unveiling of projects worth millions of naira.
The festivities commenced on Monday with a rally across Iperu town, aimed at engaging the community and raising awareness about the association’s commitment to giving back to the institution that shaped their lives.
Speaking during the event, the National Vice President of the association, Mr. Opeoluwa Awonubi, highlighted the significant contributions of the school’s alumni to society.
“Christ Apostolic Grammar School has produced numerous successful and prominent individuals across various fields, both within Nigeria and in the diaspora.
This milestone is an opportunity to give back to the institution that laid our foundation,” Awonubi said.
The grand finale, scheduled for Saturday, will feature the unveiling of several projects initiated by the alumni association. These include:a newly constructed sickbay building, an ambulance bus for emergency medical needs, a redesigned and modern school gate and a revamped school website.
“These projects are a testament to our collective resolve to enhance the learning environment for current and future students,” Awonubi added.
Prominent Alumni and Achievements
Prince Gafar Adesoga, the president of the 1991 set, described the 65th anniversary as a significant milestone. “If you look around, you’ll find Christ Apostolic Grammar School alumni excelling in organizations worldwide.
This anniversary is an opportunity to recognize the impact of our alma mater on our successes,” he said.
Adesoga cited notable alumni such as Dr. Toyin Madeyin, the Accountant-General of the Federation, as examples of the school’s influence.
“The grand finale will not only be a celebration of the school’s legacy but also a platform to honor outstanding alumni who have brought pride to the institution,” he added.
In addition to infrastructure development, Adesoga said the association has prioritized initiatives to benefit current students.
He announced the launch of a scholarship program aimed at supporting academically outstanding and financially disadvantaged students.
“As part of the anniversary, we also plan to organize a free medical outreach to cater to widows across Remo Land, ensuring the event leaves a positive impact on the wider community,” Adesoga revealed.
The 65th-anniversary celebration of Christ Apostolic Grammar School underscores the enduring bond between the institution and its alumni, showcasing their commitment to giving back and inspiring future generations.
