A man, Victor Fajemirokun, has confessed to killing a Federal Road Safety Corps officer, Funmilayo Lasisi, and her teenage daughter, Sewa, after an Islamic cleric allegedly told him the woman had “used his glory,” prompting him to lure her into the hands of suspected ritual killers in Osun State.
Fajemirokun, 40, was paraded on Wednesday at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo alongside two herbalists, Gboyega Daramola and Sunday James, who allegedly butchered the victims and removed several vital organs.
Funmilayo, 39, and her daughter were declared missing on November 2 after leaving their home at Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Abeokuta.
Unknown to them, Fajemirokun had arranged a trip to Ijebu-Jesa, Osun State, after meeting Daramola on TikTok and becoming convinced that his lover was behind his struggles.
“The cleric said she was using my glory and that I needed cleansing,” he told reporters. “I didn’t know they would kill her. When they took us into the bush, I realised they wanted to murder her. It was like I was hypnotised.”
The mother and daughter were reportedly seized in the forest, where the herbalists allegedly slit their throats before dismembering Funmilayo’s body.
One of the herbalists, Sunday James, gave a chilling account of how the murder was carried out.
“We took them into the bush. We used a knife to slit their throats. After killing them, we butchered the woman,” he confessed, adding that Fajemirokun brought them “for money rituals.”
Confirming the incident, Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, said detectives recovered Funmilayo’s mutilated corpse on November 17 at the Esa-Odo Dam, while her daughter’s decomposing body was later found in a forest.
“The head, hands, feet and private parts of both victims were removed,” the CP stated.
He disclosed that the herbalist’s aide, James, was arrested in Ekiti State, while others involved in the killing remain on the run.
Fajemirokun fled to Ghana after the killings but was arrested in a joint operation involving INTERPOL and Nigerian police operatives before being brought back into the country.
CP Gotan assured that all suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations, adding that efforts were ongoing to track the remaining accomplices.
