The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has issued a stern warning to bandit kingpins wreaking havoc in Nigeria’s Northwest, vowing that they will soon meet their end.
Speaking during a Sallah celebration with troops of Operation Fansa Yamma in Sokoto at the weekend, the army chief declared: “We will fish them out, crush them, and send them back to their maker.”
He praised the courage and dedication of the troops in the fight against banditry and other criminal activities across the region, assuring them of continued support in logistics, training, and other combat enablers to restore peace and security.

“Your commitment to duty is an inspiration to all of us. You embody true patriotism, standing firm against threats to our nation’s peace and stability,” he said.
Represented at the event by Major General Adeleke Ayannuga, Commander of the Cyber Warfare Command, General Oluyede urged the troops to remain united, vigilant, and focused on their mission.
He reiterated the army’s commitment to the welfare of the soldiers and their families.
Also speaking, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, commended the COAS for his unwavering dedication to troop welfare.
He described the visit as symbolic and highly motivating.
Ajose, who is also the Commander, Sector Operation FANSAN YAMMA, reaffirmed the commitment of troops under his command to the COAS’s vision and assured that soldiers in Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, and Zamfara states would continue to safeguard lives and property with utmost professionalism.
