The first time I saw a sticker on a vehicle which read God is faithful, I queried the sanity of the writer because the question which cropped up in my mind was God is faithful to whom? But later, I got to know that I was wrong.
According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, faithful is an adjective which could mean loyal, consistent with truth, responsible, dependable, reliable, and of course, full of faith.
Still on the matter, all of us read the lines of the national pledge which state: “I pledge to Nigeria, my country To be faithful, loyal and honest. “
Faithful here practically has nothing to do with belief. Ambiguity is an integral characteristic of any given language, of which English is no exemption. Once again, you’re welcome to my classroom.
