Terrorists unleashed terror on Kungurki village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing an elderly man and abducting 13 residents, including a two-month-old baby and his mother.

The attack, which occurred under the cover of darkness, was confirmed on Sunday by Zagazola Makama, a counterterrorism and insurgency expert in the Lake Chad Basin, through a post on his X account.

Makama revealed that the assailants stormed the village, firing sporadically to spread panic among the residents.

“They moved swiftly, rounding up their victims and retreating into the nearby forest,” he stated.

An eyewitness described the scene as horrifying, noting that the attackers killed an elderly man in cold blood and abducted women and children.

Several shops were looted during the rampage, with food items, household supplies, and other valuables carted away.

The community remains in shock, with residents calling for heightened security measures to prevent further attacks.

Efforts to reach security agencies in the region for comments were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
