The Council of Baale, Abeokuta North Local Government, has indefinitely suspended Quadri Kudaisi, the Baale of Idiya, amid serious allegations of land grabbing and misconduct.
The Council issued a suspension letter dated July 31, 2024, detailing the reasons for this action.
The letter, referenced as OG/SCB/AKM/091/24, was jointly signed by the Chairman of the Council and Baale Onisasa, Oyejide Jelili Adio, and the General Secretary and Baale Sangote, Adetola Jelili.
The communication was disseminated to key stakeholders, including the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ogun State Police Commissioner, Egba Traditional Council of Baale’s, and other relevant authorities.
The letter states that Kudaisi’s actions violated the constitution of the Ogun State Council of Baale’s, particularly Article 13, which outlines acts of misconduct.
The Council highlighted that Kudaisi had been previously cautioned about his involvement in illegal land activities, including selling the same parcel of land to multiple buyers and forcibly seizing land.
These actions culminated in his arrest and subsequent bail set at N2 million by the court.
“You were invited to the above-mentioned executive council meeting held on 29th July 2024 at Oke Ogun Baale’s hall, Idiya Rounder Abeokuta at 10:30 am prompt.
“You acknowledged receipt of the invitation by appending your signature on a copy of the invitation,” the letter read.
“In view of the above, you are hereby suspended indefinitely for contravening the provision of the constitution of the Ogun State Council of Baale’s.
Accordingly, you are banned from parading yourself as a member of the council and or participating in any other activities of the council.”
Addressing the media, Adio elaborated on the rationale behind the suspension, emphasising the gravity of the allegations.
“He was accused of involving in land grabbing, selling one land to multiple persons, and the forceful takeover of land.
“We had earlier cautioned him against trespassing on people’s land, and his notorious act led him to be arrested and granted bail by the Court in the sum of N2 million,” Adio stated.
“The activities of Quadri Kudaisi on land grabbing are embarrassing the Council of Baale and putting us in a bad light.”
Supporting this stance, Assistant Secretary of the Council, Baale Adeyinka Rasheed, reiterated that Kudaisi’s actions were in direct violation of the Council’s constitution, specifically Article 13, which governs the code of conduct for traditional leaders.
It is noteworthy that Kudaisi’s legal troubles are not isolated.
Another relative, Lateef Kehinde Kudaisi, was also arrested over similar land grabbing allegations and subsequently granted bail by the Magistrate Court in the sum of N3 million with two sureties in like sum.
The Council’s firm stance reflects a broader effort to curtail illegal land activities and restore trust in traditional leadership within Ogun State.
