Court Jails Jamaican, 3 Other Drug Kingpins For 28 Years

… Seizes Lagos Houses, N67 Million, $50,000

A Federal High Court in Lagos State has sentenced four notorious drug traffickers, including a Jamaican national, to a combined total of 28 years in prison for their roles in a major cocaine trafficking operation.

The court’s decision stems from a historic seizure of 2.1 tons of cocaine, the largest in Nigeria’s anti-narcotics efforts, carried out by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The operation, which took place on Sunday, September 18, 2022, targeted a house on 6 Olukuola Crescent, Solebo Estate, Ikorodu, Lagos. NDLEA operatives discovered and confiscated a staggering 2,139.55 kilograms of cocaine, illustrating the scale of the narcotics network that had been operating within the region.

In addition to the lengthy prison sentences, the court ordered the forfeiture of properties linked to the accused, seizing multiple houses in Lagos, as well as a substantial sum of money amounting to N67 million and $50,000.

This decisive action emphasizes the government’s commitment to tackling drug trafficking and dismantling organized crime networks.

The sentences handed down reflect the severity of the drug offenses committed, as the court underscored the detrimental impact of narcotics on society.

The NDLEA has continued to enhance its operational capabilities, ensuring that drug traffickers face strict penalties for their illegal activities.
