The Vice Chancellor of Crescent University, Abeokuta, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, has lauded the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, for what he described as “exceptional leadership” and rare honesty in public service.
In a letter dated May 16, 2025, Prof. Gbajabiamila commended Oloyede’s management of JAMB over the years, highlighting his recent public admission of technical challenges experienced during the last Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as a hallmark of integrity and accountability.
“We have been following, with keen interest, your exceptional leadership of the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) over the years. We have found you to be an exemplar in all ramifications,” the letter read.
He noted that Oloyede’s decision to take full responsibility for the examination glitches and his open remorse reflect an uncommon leadership character in Nigeria’s public sector.
“We consider your recent public remorseful acknowledgement of technical glitches in the last UTME and also taking responsibility on behalf of your team, a high display of leadership character, honesty and credibility.
“This is a rarity in leadership in this part of the world,” Prof. Gbajabiamila added.
The vice chancellor urged the JAMB boss to remain steadfast in his commitment to professionalism, honour, and national service, praying for divine guidance in his future endeavours.
Prof. Oloyede, a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin and recipient of the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), has been widely recognised for his reforms and digital transformation of JAMB since his appointment.
