In a remarkable display of Corporate Social Responsibility, Dangote Cement Plc. has inaugurated a health center and various projects in its host communities in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun.
The projects were unveiled during the company’s annual Community Day celebrations at Ibese, where the Plant Director, Mr. Azad Nawabuddin, handed over these initiatives to the communities.
Addressing the gathering, Nawabuddin emphasized the significance of the occasion, marking a day dedicated to celebrating the company’s achievements in 2023 and expressing gratitude to the host communities for their unwavering support.
He acknowledged the prevalent socio-economic challenges faced globally and in Nigeria, emphasizing the company’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life in its host communities.
Dangote Cement, known for its commitment to social investment, initiated 23 projects, including the revitalization of 10 non-functional Corporate Social Responsibility projects across the 17 host communities.
These projects spanned various areas, focusing on education, health, infrastructure, and empowerment.
Nawabuddin highlighted key accomplishments, such as the installation of a 33/0.415kv electricity transmission line, the drilling of solar-powered boreholes, and the construction of essential facilities like health centers and toilets.
The company also gave scholarships to 119 students from the host communities, distributed 60 weeding machines to farmers, and provided 50 chest freezers to selected vulnerable women.
Underscoring Dangote Cement’s commitment to intentional empowerment programmes, Nawabuddin stressed their dedication to improving the overall well-being and development of the host communities.
The company further invested N20 million to train 30 youths in leatherworks, collaborating with the Industrial Training Fund for implementation.
During the occasion, traditional rulers from the host communities and officials from the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investments were present, acknowledging the positive impact of Dangote Cement’s initiatives.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude, pledging to use the resources judiciously.
As Dangote Cement continues to prioritize community development, the occasion highlighted the collaborative efforts between the company and its host communities, showcasing the positive outcomes of their social investment initiatives.
