The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has issued a formal statement clarifying that it has not received any payments from the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) to procure refined petroleum products.
The refinery emphasized that its current operations do not involve direct business dealings with IPMAN, countering reports suggesting loading difficulties for IPMAN members.
The statement, signed by Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer for Dangote Group, and made available to PLATFORM TIMES on Thursday, revealed that while discussions are underway, any payments made thus far by IPMAN members were directed through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
The refinery confirmed that NNPCL has neither authorized nor instructed Dangote Refinery to release Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to IPMAN.
Addressing speculation on its ability to meet national demands, the refinery stated that it has the capacity to load approximately 2,900 trucks daily and continues to evacuate petroleum products by sea.
“We have more than enough petroleum products to satisfy IPMAN’s needs. We advise IPMAN to register directly with us and make direct payments for seamless access to our supply,” the statement read.
Dangote Refinery also urged caution in the public domain, advising stakeholders to avoid “unfounded statements in the media” that could undermine national economic recovery efforts.
The refinery stressed that public speculation and misinformation are “counterproductive and unpatriotic,” especially as Nigeria focuses on stabilizing its economy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Dangote Group called for collaborative efforts to support government initiatives, emphasizing the need for stakeholders to prioritize unity over media controversies.
