In a significant development, Dangote Refinery has officially commenced production, assuring Nigerians that its refined products, specifically diesel and aviation fuel, will be available in the market by the end of this month.

The company, expressing gratitude to stakeholders, emphasised its commitment to meeting domestic demands.

PLATFORM TIMES reports that the  commencement follows the successful delivery of six million barrels of crude oil to the 650,000 barrels-per-day plant over the past few weeks.

Dangote Group’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Anthony Chiejina, highlighted that production kicked off after receiving crude oil from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.

Acknowledging President Bola Tinubu’s pivotal support, Alhaji Aliko Dangote praised his visionary leadership, which played a crucial role in overcoming obstacles and expediting the project’s realization.

The President also expressed gratitude to key entities such as the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, as well as Nigerians for their unwavering support.

Dangote emphasized the historic significance of the project, stating, “This production, as witnessed today, would not have been possible without his [President Tinubu] visionary leadership and prompt attention to detail.”

Highlighting the achievement’s national importance, Dangote remarked,

“This is a game-changer for our country, and I am very fulfilled with the actualization of this project.”

He disclosed that the refinery has already received six million barrels of crude oil, with products set to conform to Euro V specifications.

In terms of capacity, the refinery can load 2,900 trucks a day at its truck-loading gantries, showcasing its state-of-the-art technology.

Meanwhile, petroleum product marketers eagerly await the release of Dangote Refinery’s product price list, with the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria expressing their eagerness to obtain and share this information with their members.
