The Dapo Abiodun Continuity Agenda has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden demise of Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi-Onanuga, popularly known as “Ijaya,” who until her death was the Deputy Chief Whip of the Federal House of Representatives.
In a statement signed by the convener, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, the group commiserated with her family, the people of the Sagamu/Ikenne/Remo North Federal Constituency, and the entire Ogun State over the irreparable loss.
Rt. Hon. Oriyomi-Onanuga, described as a dynamic and impactful lawmaker, was lauded for her numerous contributions to her constituency.
The group highlighted her efforts in promoting healthcare through medical outreach programs, initiating agricultural interventions, advocating for widows and the less privileged, and championing the cause of girl-child education.
“We are saddened by this irredeemable loss because we are not unaware of her major contributions to the development of her constituency,” the statement read.
The group further extolled her political prowess, business acumen, and intellectual contributions to national issues during her time at the Green Chamber, noting that her absence would leave a significant void.
“As we mourn her passing, we take solace in the Almighty God that our separation is temporal, and that her legacies will speak further many years after her demise,” the statement continued.
The Dapo Abiodun Continuity Agenda prayed for divine strength for her family and the people of Ogun State to bear the immense loss, while also seeking eternal rest for her soul.
Rt. Hon. Oriyomi-Onanuga’s legacy as a compassionate leader and advocate for societal progress will undoubtedly remain a source of inspiration for many.
