Former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Amaju Pinnick, through his company, Brownhill Investment Company, and popular musician David Adeleke, known as Davido, have reached an agreement to settle a N2 billion breach of contract lawsuit out of court.
The dispute arose in October 2023 when Brownhill Investment Company took legal action against Davido and his music label, Davido Music Worldwide Limited, for failing to perform at the 19th edition of the ‘Warri Again Concert’ despite receiving the agreed-upon fees.
Pinnick’s company sought N2 billion in general damages from the defendants for the breach of contract, along with N150 million for legal and professional fees, plus an additional N30 million for filing costs.
However, both parties informed the Delta High Court in Effurun on Thursday of their decision to settle out of court, which the court granted.
Justice Michael Obi of High Court Three, Effurun, commended both parties for choosing an amicable resolution, stating, “I commend both parties for exploring an amicable resolution to settle out of court.”
Davido’s lawyer, Mr. Oladayo Ogungbe, confirmed that both parties had agreed to an out-of-court settlement, revealing that Davido would perform at the ‘Warri Again Concert’ on October 4 as part of the settlement terms.
Ogungbe emphasized the benefits of settling out of court, stating, “It’s fine. It is better than going through the rigors of litigations… It is a win-win situation for both parties.”
The ‘Warri Again’ concert, an annual event organized by Pinnick, celebrates entertainers from the Niger Delta region.
