In a significant effort to combat poverty and empower vulnerable members of society, Dawah Front of Nigeria, in collaboration with the Amir Islamic Foundation, has distributed items valued at N11.5 million to 52 beneficiaries during the 2025 Zakaat exercise in Ogun State.
The distribution ceremony, held at the Egba Muslim Central Mosque in Abeokuta, witnessed the allocation of various essential items including sewing machines, generators, grinding machines, industrial equipment, and freezers.
These items were meticulously distributed to individuals selected from a pool of 85 applicants, representing diverse categories such as students, entrepreneurs, and individuals with physical challenges.
Chairman of the Dawah Front of Nigeria’s Zakat Committee, Alhaji Surajudeen Fashola, highlighted the rigorous selection process, which involved careful scrutiny of applications to ensure that the support reached those most in need.
“We received 85 applications and after thorough evaluation, 52 applicants were selected based on their compelling reasons for seeking assistance,” he stated.
Addressing the ceremony, Professor Shariffdeen Adewuyi, Deputy National Coordinator of Dawah Front of Nigeria, emphasized the importance of Zakat as a fundamental pillar of the organization’s philanthropic efforts.
He commended the collaboration with the Amir Zakat Foundation, underscoring the event’s significance in fostering community welfare.
“The exercise marks a remarkable day for us as it reflects our commitment to the practice of Zakat. We are grateful for the partnership with the Amir Zakat Foundation, which has enabled us to expand our reach and impact,” Professor Adewuyi remarked.
Echoing the sentiment, Chapter Coordinator Dr. Samsudeen Ayanwale, represented by Assistant Coordinator Alhaji Abdul Rahman Maku, urged beneficiaries to utilize the distributed items judiciously.
“We advise beneficiaries to use these items for their intended purposes and to strive towards becoming benefactors themselves in the future,” he advised.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alabi Fathia, who received industrial machines, expressed heartfelt appreciation, praying for continued blessings upon the donors.
“I am grateful for this empowerment and pledge to pay it forward by becoming a Zakat donor myself,” she affirmed.
Similarly, Adeyemi Nimot, another beneficiary, emphasized the transformative impact of the program, urging fellow recipients to maximize the benefits received.
“This initiative is a lifeline for poverty alleviation, and I encourage everyone to make the best use of this opportunity,” Nimot encouraged.
