    De Renaissance Patriots Mourns Death Of President, Prince Adeniji-Adele

    The De Renaissance Patriots Foundation has announced the passing of its President, Prince Hakeem Adelani Adeniji-Adele, in the early hours of Friday, August 2, 2024. He was 66 years old.

    The announcement, made by the Foundation’s Secretary General, Mr. Yomi Tokosi, conveyed the profound sorrow felt by the group. 

    “With heavy hearts, I announce the tragic loss of our President, Prince Adelani Gbogboade Adeniji-Adele.

    “ We lost him early this morning to the cold hands of death. His dedication, resourcefulness, and leadership will be sorely missed,” Tokosi said.

    A statement issued from the Media Office of the group stated that ,Prince Adeniji-Adele, a notable freedom fighter for the rights of Lagos State natives, was known for his unwavering commitment to ensuring that the indigenous people of Lagos enjoyed their rights and privileges since the return of democracy in 1999.

    Leaders and members of De Renaissance Patriots Foundation have expressed their grief over the loss of a man they describe as a pivotal figure in their struggle. 

    Professor Adele Jinadu, Chairman of the Group’s Board of Trustees, Major General Tajudeen Olanrewaju (Rtd), Alternate BOT Chairman, and Retired Justice Solomon Olusola Humponu-Wusu, Honoured Trustee, have all paid tribute to the late Prince.

    In a heartfelt statement, Major General Olanrewaju, a former Minister of Communications, highlighted the significant impact of Prince Adeniji-Adele’s death on Lagos State. 

    “Lagos State has lost a prominent son of the state, Prince Adelani Adeniji-Adele, a Prince of the Royal House of Lagos.

     Prince Adelani was a cerebral historian, a thoroughbred Lagosian, and a strong freedom fighter in the struggle to take back Lagos State to the ÌBILE indigenes of the state,” he said.

    General Olanrewaju emphasized the vacuum left by Prince Adeniji-Adele’s departure, noting his vital role in advocating for indigenous participation in the state’s governance.

     “In his role as our President, he was responsible, resolute, and served with energy, integrity, and commitment to the goal of our cultural organisation. We pray for the repose of his soul. Rest in peace, our Prince and leader,” he concluded.

    The statement read that Further details regarding funeral arrangements and tributes will be provided by the royal family in due course.
