The Minister of Defence, Mohammad Badaru, has issued a direct order to troops of Operation Fansar Yamma to arrest the notorious bandits’ leader, Bello Turji.

The minister gave this directive during an address to the soldiers at the One Brigade Headquarters in Gusau, Zamfara State, on Thursday.

Badaru emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts against terrorists and bandits in the region, highlighting that President Bola Tinubu has been closely monitoring military activities in recent months.

According to the minister, the president is satisfied with the progress so far but acknowledges that significant challenges remain.

“The president urged me to thank you for your efforts and to encourage you to do more. He is prepared to provide whatever is necessary to ensure that insecurity is eradicated, not only in the Northwest but across Nigeria,” Badaru said.

In his address, the Defence Minister expressed optimism in the military’s ability to tackle the issue, stating, “I had reassurances from your commanding officers, and I am confident we can achieve our goal. Are you ready to finish the job? Are you ready to end this? Please, get me Turji.”

The visit to Gusau was part of Badaru’s mission to assess the progress of Operation Fansar Yamma, an initiative aimed at addressing insecurity in the region.

He was received by the Commander of the Joint Taskforce Northwest Operation Fansar Yamma, Major General Oluyinka Soyele, alongside Zamfara State’s Deputy Governor, Mani Mumuni, and other dignitaries.

The call to capture Bello Turji comes amidst heightened efforts to curb the activities of bandits who have wreaked havoc across Zamfara and other parts of the Northwest.

Turji, one of the most wanted criminal leaders in the region, has been linked to numerous violent attacks, kidnappings, and killings.
