Defiant Natasha Flies Into Kogi, Defies Curfew To Rousing Welcome

Despite a government-imposed curfew banning political gatherings in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, suspended lawmaker, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, arrived in the state aboard a helicopter to a massive reception from her supporters on Tuesday.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, was met with loud cheers as she touched down in defiance of the directive prohibiting political gatherings in her local government.

The restriction, imposed ahead of her planned homecoming, was announced by the Okehi LGA Chairman, Amoka Eneji, citing security concerns.

Eneji had earlier on Tuesday warned against political activities in the area, urging the embattled lawmaker to cancel her visit in the interest of peace and order.

However, Akpoti-Uduaghan dismissed the directive, affirming her commitment to engaging with her constituents.

“Despite rumours circulating online, there has been no official announcement from our office regarding the cancellation of this visit.

As the senator representing Kogi Central, I remain committed to engaging with my community and fostering a spirit of unity and cooperation,” she stated.

Akpoti-Uduaghan has been at the center of controversy following her suspension from the Senate last month over alleged violations of parliamentary rules.

She has, however, described the action as a witch-hunt, claiming it was orchestrated to silence her after she accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual molestation.
