The popular Isoko highlife musician, Arube Otor, also known as “Isoko Fela,” who is set to marry three women simultaneously on January 19, 2025, in Uzere Kingdom, Delta State has revealed that his upbringing in a polygamous household inspired him to emulate his late father’s example of fostering unity within a large family.
“My father married three wives, and we lived harmoniously as one family. You couldn’t tell which child belonged to which mother because we shared everything.
This background shaped my decision to marry multiple wives,” he said in an exclusive interview with The Punch and extracted by PLATFORM TIMES.
Explaining why he chose to marry the three women on the same day, Otor cited the bond and mutual respect among the brides-to-be as a decisive factor.
“They genuinely care for one another and support each other, so marrying them on the same day was the logical choice,” he said.
Otor, who already has a senior wife and nine children, emphasized that his first wife fully supports his decision.
“She was aware of my plans and even coordinated the preparations. There’s no secret among us, and that transparency has helped maintain balance and harmony,” he added.
The musician detailed his approach to maintaining love and fairness in his expanding household.
“Each wife will have three days with me in rotation. The wife staying with me during her turn will also prepare my meals. Respect and fairness are my guiding principles, and I rely on God’s guidance to navigate this journey,” he explained.
He added that all four wives will live under one roof in a shared compound, a setup Otor believes is crucial for fostering unity.
“Living together as a family helps us grow closer and resolve any misunderstandings quickly,” he noted.
Despite preparing for his upcoming nuptials, Otor revealed plans to marry two more wives, bringing the total to six.
“I believe in following my heart and living life on my terms. If I meet someone I want to marry, I’ll do so,” he declared.
When asked about criticism, Otor dismissed societal judgments, stating, “God rules my life, not human beings. Everyone is free to live their life as they see fit.”
Advising young people, Otor emphasized the importance of character in relationships. “A woman’s character determines whether a man stays. If your partner wishes to marry someone else, focus on building understanding rather than resistance. Live your life based on your values and capabilities,” he advised.
