The Delta State Chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has re-elected Chief Goodluck Ofobruku to pilot the affairs of the Union in the next four years just as he promised to defend the interest of the organised labour Union.
Chief Ofobruku was returned unopposed, at the delegate conference held at the state labour house in Asaba the state capital.
The NLC National Returning Officer, Comrade Steven Okoro, while swearing-in NLC executive members during the NLC 10th Delegates Conference on Tuesday in Delta admonish them to carry all members along and be open in dealings
In his acceptance speech, the re-elected Delta NLC chairman commended the delegates for their show of solidarity and love.
He assures the union that the elected exco will not disappoint and will defend the interest of the Union more than they expected.
According to his him, ” this newly elected and swore-in exco, will not disappoint you, we will work day and night to defend your interest, will represent you in such a way that you will not be able to represent yourselves”.
While commending the state government for making the Delta state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress easier in regard to issues concerning members welfare, saying the government always give them a listening ear and do their best to solve the Union challenges.
He appealed to delegates to always provide the support that have shown and not to relent in supporting the labour movement, adding that the executive doors are open to entertain the issue of members.
Earlier, the head of service, Delta state, Mr. Reginald Bayoko, who was ably represented by Mr. Kingsley Umukoro noted that the state government was pleased with the Delta state chapter of the union and will continue to partner and support the workers by meeting their demands.
