The Delta State Police Command has paraded a 31-year-old man, Benedict Toju Ogheneovo, over allegations of falsely claiming that police officers made his manhood disappear during an encounter in Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, who was presented to the press by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, at the Ekpan Division, was said to have been apprehended alongside two others during a routine search by operatives on January 13.
After the search, the group was allowed to leave, but Ogheneovo returned shortly after, alleging that the officers had caused his manhood to vanish.
SP Edafe, while addressing journalists, explained that the matter was immediately investigated to establish the truth.
“The DPO, in his wisdom, recorded their statements and referred the suspect for medical examination, which revealed that his manhood was intact,” Edafe stated.
He further noted that Ogheneovo later admitted that his claim stemmed from psychological trauma.
In a subsequent interaction with the press, Ogheneovo confirmed that his manhood was functional but admitted that he had not tested it since the incident.
The police have reiterated their commitment to professionalism and urged members of the public to refrain from making baseless allegations that could tarnish the image of law enforcement officers.
