In a bid to address escalating tensions and security concerns, HRM Obi Chukwumalieze, the Traditional Ruler of Onicha Ugbo in Delta State, has issued a quit notice to Fulani herdsmen operating within the community.

Assuring residents of imminent relief from the menace, the monarch emphasized the urgency of the situation during an extensive gathering at his palace.

Obi Chukwumalieze, speaking at a large-scale meeting attended by members of the Ogbekenu community and non-indigenous residents, urged patience while assuring swift action by the Obi-in-council to expel the Fulani herdsmen from the town.

He underscored the gravity of the situation following the tragic killing of Mr. Ifeanyi Izeke, stressing the need for decisive measures to safeguard residents’ lives.

Since the incident, the Obi-in-council has engaged in a series of consultations with security agencies to devise comprehensive strategies for the complete removal of the herdsmen from the community.

Recognizing the paramount importance of maintaining peace, the monarch appealed to the youth to refrain from vigilantism and allow due process to take its course.

Echoing the sentiments of the Traditional Ruler, Chief Alex Odi-Okoh, the Iyase Agba, called upon community members to provide vital information about the whereabouts of the herdsmen.

He emphasized the community’s collective responsibility in ensuring the safety of all residents and urged cooperation with the Obi-in-council’s efforts.

Amidst the calls for action, Chief Odi-Okoh emphasized the imperative of fostering a peaceful environment to facilitate the swift resolution of the situation.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and support the authorities in their endeavors to restore tranquility to the community.

In response, community members, including Mr. Afedi Odozi, Mr. Augustine Asimonye, Mrs. Elizabeth Ijeli, and Ms. Uche Jesu, voiced their solidarity with the monarch and his cabinet, urging unwavering determination until the Fulani herdsmen are completely expelled from the area.

Their collective resolve underscores the community’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
