The Commissioner for Science and Technology, Delta State, Olorogun (Mrs.) Jennifer Adesan Efeviroro has revealed that the Youths in Delta are proud over Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s ICT -YEP Empowerment programme in the state.
The commissioner, gave the revelation when she spoke with journalists in Asaba.
She said the vision of the empowerment programme manifested with the support of the Governor, who always gave a nod to her proposal.
She disclosed that the Ministry started with a pilot phase of the ICT programme with information and communication technology, where over 500 beneficiaries were trained and empowered successfully.
She said beneficiaries of the empowerment programme are self-employed and trainers of other Youths in their various endeavors.
Adding, that the state generates revenue from those that are trained for using the well-equipped innovation Hub in the state for training others
She revealed other areas where Okowa’s administration has engaged youths, like start-up academy where Youths are trained on mobile development, UIUS, web development.
Others, she said, ICT for advance solar installation, computer repairs, and CCTV.
She noted Governor Okowa’s support for the Ministry gave youths the opportunity to fabricate a lubricant making machine with beneficiaries cutting across the 25 local government areas of the state.
That the Youths can now make use of the fabricate machine itself and produce lubricants with the supervision of Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), she said.
Also disclosed that Okowa’s knowns that the sure part way to successful Delta is through technology, that is one reason His Excellency is investing so much in technology and our Youths are proud beneficiaries of all that we are doing as a ministry, especially now the world is moving away from analogue.
While, she admonishes the incoming administration to sustain the legacies Governor Okowa is entrusting to him.
