Peculiar Tonkumoh
A yet to be identified dispatch rider who jumped in to Lekki-Ikoyi Link bridge Lagoon on Tuesday has been found dead.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the dead body of the rider was recovered by Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service in the early hours on Thursday morning.
Recall that rescue operation started on Tuesday night at the Lekki-Ikoyi Link bridge after a dispatch rider jumped into the deep waters on Tuesday evening.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening when hawkers and passers by who saw him before the incident , reportedly thought he wanted to fix his bike after parking it on the bridge.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that the body was spotted on Thursday and has been badged by the State Environmental Health Management Unit SEHMU, and deposited in the morgue.
Director of Lagos state Fire and Rescue service, Margaret Adeseye, said the rescue operation was carried out by the Agency, Lagos State Waterways Authority, LASWA, Lagos State Emergency Agency, LASEMA, Lagos State Health Environmental Monitoring Unit and the locals.
She said “ The search and rescue operations began in earnest immediately the alert of the incident was received at 14:53 hours and culminated in the recovery of the body today by 09:15 hours at the LASEMA end of the lagoon bank”.
