A lawyer and public activist, Justice Osai Ahiakwo has called on President Bola Tinubu not to allow politicians hijack his proposed National youth conference.

Speaking with journalists in Calabar on Wednesday, Ahiakwo was optimistic about the positive outcomes of the conference.

He noted that it would be coming at a time when people were undergoing unprecedented economic hardship which had led to severe pains and deaths.

He emphasized that the government should engage with the youths to address the country’s challenges and create an atmosphere for peaceful coexistence.

“However, it’s crucial to ensure that the conference is not hijacked by politicians and bureaucracy, which could divert public funds meant for the event.

“Let’s keep our fingers crossed that this conference will be a groundbreaking success and mark a new era for Nigeria’s youths.

“His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, may have realized that dialogue and consultation are effective tools adopted in model civilization to bridge the gap in human and capacity development for nation building,” he stated.

He urged the presidency to come up with modalities for the confab and number of youths expected to participate, emphasizing that they must be patriotic to achieve intended aims.
