Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Minister of State for health, Sen. Olorunimbe Mamora and former minister of state for agriculture, Bamidele Dada have urged Nigerians not to give up on the country.
The trio gave their address separately during the 110th session of the Nigerian Baptist Convention at the Baptist International Convention Centre, (BICC) Lagos.
Speaking during the assembly on Tuesday Former President Obasanjo emphasized that Nigeria’s problems are surmountable urging Nigerians not to lose hope.
Obasanjo used the theme of the convention – entering newness through love and unity to assure Nigerians of a better tomorrow if the country stays united.
“It’s all looking glitch, cheerless, unappetizing and unpleasant but children of God, we will have newness.
“For newness, we must keep our faith high and undiminished, we must love our fellow human being and God. What is not good today will be better tomorrow. We can have newness of the things that have gone bad in the country, we must not lose hope,” Obasanjo said.
Speaking on the chaos in Sudan, he said “the government and people of Ethiopia celebrated their peace, God who gave victory in Ethiopia will give victory in Sudan.”
In his address during the evening service on Sunday, the minister of state for health, Sen. Olorunimbe Mamora urged the congregation to continue to set values for the society while supportung and believing in the county
“Please continue to believe in our country, continue to do what you can to support the country. The values of the society should continually be presented by christians. As we continue to do this, we can be sure of seeing the best if our country,” Mamora said.
While giving his addressed titled – the 21st century Nigerian, turning challenges to testimony, former minister of state for argicukture, Chief Bamidele Dada x-rayed the challenges facing the country.
He said christians should find solace in God’s word and continue to hope for a better Nigeria.
In his words, “Things are difficult, our country is existing in troubled times, we are having a distressed economy but comforted in God’s word. There is hope for a better Nigeria but the church must wake up and speak out.”
Also at the convention were former governors of Delta State, James Ibori and former governor of Edo State, Lucky Igbinedion amongst others who also addressed and prayed with the congregation.
