The Osile Oke Ona of Egbaland has warned traditional chiefs not to perform any traditional rites on his body after his death.
The Ogun Monarch said that any of the traditional chiefs that tampers with his body after his demise risks jail according to law.
Speaking with BBC Yoruba on Tuesday, Oba Tejuosho said he has informed his chiefs to bury him according to his religion and not traditional rites.
Recall that the Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun had in 2022, accented a bill passed by the state house of assembly criminalizing the cannibalisation of the remains of a dead monarch.
The law states that “whoever takes the body of a dead monarch to perform any rite would be arrested and jailed.”
The Osile who never hides his allegiance to Christian faith said “a monarch burial rites must be done according to his belief or religion. It must be done according to his believe and how his family wants it to be so done.
“I have told my superiors that if I die, if they try to do anything with my dead body, they will accept God as the boss. “It has now become a law that a king should be bribed or worshiped according to the religion that the king is chanting and a record of what he says. It is a crime if any Chief violates the law.”
The Monarch has explained that Nigeria’s present problems is because of the disobedience of Nigerians to the commands of God.
He affirmed optimism that ‘God’s promise for Nigeria to become one of the most powerful countries in the world will be fulfilled.’
