    Dr Kunle Olajide at 80: Oyebanji praises statesman’s impact on Ekiti’s growth

    Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the former Secretary General of the Yoruba Council of Elders, YCE, Dr Kunle Olajide, on his 80th birthday.

    Dr Olajide, a renowned medical practitioner from Efon Alaaye, will mark the milestone on Sunday, September 29th.

    In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, Governor Oyebanji described Dr Olajide as one of Ekiti’s most distinguished sons, whose contributions have been instrumental not only to the state’s development but also to the progress of Nigeria.

    “Ekiti is fortunate to have an illustrious elder like Dr Olajide, whose service to humanity as a medical professional, politician, statesman, community leader, and advocate of good governance has been exemplary,” the Governor said.




    Governor Oyebanji recalled Dr Olajide’s prominent role in the former Ondo State, where he selflessly served the people before the creation of Ekiti State. He praised his enduring contributions to Ekiti in various capacities.

    The Governor further commended Dr Olajide for his pivotal involvement in the movement that led to the creation of Ekiti State, particularly through his advocacy, connections, and leadership during the struggle, which culminated in the state’s formation on October 1, 1996.

    Governor Oyebanji also lauded Dr Olajide’s advocacy for a better Nigeria, noting his consistent and respected voice in the call for true federalism and equity.

    “It is no surprise that Dr Olajide became the chief scribe of the Yoruba Council of Elders, given his stature as a revered Yoruba leader with much to offer to his people,” Oyebanji stated.

    The Governor concluded by praying for long life, good health, and fulfilment for Dr Olajide, hoping for more fruitful years of service to Ekiti, the Yoruba nation, and Nigeria at large.

    “On behalf of the Government and people of Ekiti State, I congratulate our esteemed leader on this remarkable milestone and pray that God continues to bless him with strength and joy in the years to come,” Governor Oyebanji added.
