DSS Is Being Tyrannical, Delta Residents React To Emefiele’s Release Order

Residents of Delta state have celebrated the release order of the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele, by a Federal High Court, in Abuja.

Many indigenes of Asaba, Emefiele’s home town, celebrated the verdict, as they hailed the court for proving to be the last hope of the common man.

However, one of the residents, Ogidi Emmanuel, said the DSS have been always tyrannical when making decisions.

According to him, the illegal detention of the suspended CBN governor without proof of the crime he committed was unjust and against the rule of law.

He lamented that the DSS operatives were becoming more brazen in their behaviours, lamenting that Emefiele’s crime was initiating several policies that have been beneficial to Nigerians.

Justice Hamza Muazu, on Thursday, ordered the DSS to process Emefiele’s release from it’s custody within seven days.

Emefiele, through his counsel, had confronted the DSS for detaining, denying him access to his family members and counsel.

In the same vein, Justice Muazu said no matter how short a detention is, it’s a breach of fundamental rights.

He therefore ruled that the applicant be released on bail, as he (Justice Muazu) gave the respondent one week to charge the applicant to court or release him.
