President of Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA),Sir Odeiga Jideonwo, has lauded the significant impact of the Dangote Group, spearheaded by its President, Aliko Dangote, on the Nigerian economy.

Jideonwo spoke at  the 35th Enugu International Trade Fair themed ‘Promoting Made in Nigeria Products for Global Competitiveness’.

He praised the Dangote Group’s diverse ventures, citing the recent commencement of production at the Dangote refinery as a crucial step towards addressing Nigeria’s refined petroleum product challenges.

He commended the group’s visionary leadership, innovative approaches, and steadfastness, which have propelled it to become a cornerstone of Nigeria’s business and industrial landscape.

Anticipating the group’s continued expansion, Jideonwo expressed confidence in its potential to not only dominate the Nigerian and African markets but also make significant global strides, thereby fostering wealth creation and employment generation on a broader scale.

Abayomi Shittu, Regional Sales Director of Dangote Cement Southeast, echoed Jideonwo’s sentiments, emphasizing the group’s commitment to achieving self-sufficiency across all sectors it operates in.

Shittu underscored the alignment of this year’s trade fair theme with Dangote’s focus on domestic manufacturing, leveraging Nigeria’s abundant raw materials to reduce import dependency.

Highlighting the pivotal role of industrialization in economic diversification, Shittu outlined Dangote Group’s efforts in fostering backward integration and creating extensive linkages within the economy.

He emphasized the group’s contributions to job creation, infrastructure development, and community empowerment, citing initiatives such as the out-grower scheme implemented by Dangote Sugar Refinery to engage thousands of farmers and uplift host communities.

The ongoing consolidation of Dangote’s various ventures into Dangote Foods reflects the group’s strategic approach to harnessing the benefits of backward integration, thereby reinforcing its position as a leading player in Nigeria’s food industry.
