The Edo State Government has announced the appointment of Friday Aghedo as the Chief Press Secretary to the state’s Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa.
The appointment, effective December 2, 2024, was disclosed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Mr. Musa Ikhilor.
Aghedo, a seasoned media professional and blogger, brings extensive experience in media management and leadership to the role.
Having worked closely with Deputy Governor Idahosa since 2019, Aghedo’s familiarity with his principal’s operations is expected to foster seamless communication and media coordination.
Before this appointment, Aghedo served as the Press Secretary to the Chairman of Ovia South West Local Government Area.
He also held the position of Deputy Director in the New Media Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council, where his efforts contributed significantly to the electoral victory of Governor Monday Okpbebholo.
Aghedo’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Education (BSc [Ed]) in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
He is also the publisher of a prominent news platform and the recipient of several awards, including the ASMIIN Blogger of the Year Award in 2021.
Married with children, Aghedo’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the media and public relations efforts of the Deputy Governor’s office.
