The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday, handed over a total of $225,895 and ₦62.79 million recovered from fraudsters to victims from the United States and South Africa.
The ceremony, held at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, was presided over by the Commission’s Secretary, Mohammed Hammajoda, and witnessed by representatives of the victims’ nations, including FBI Assistant Law Enforcement Attaché Mike Fukuda and the Acting South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Lindi Mminele.
Hammajoda described corruption as a “global menace” that required collaborative efforts to combat. “Corruption has no borders.
“If we do not fight it together, it will consume us all,” he warned, adding that the EFCC was committed to returning recovered proceeds to rightful owners—be they individuals, companies, governments, or international victims.
During the handover, Fukuda received $7,440 for American victims Drago Boskovic, Anh Ngoc Nguyen, Holly Ngo, and three others, while Mminele, alongside the lawyer Elisha Sunday, collected $50,000 on behalf of South African company Ennis-Flint Africa Limited.

Appreciating the EFCC’s efforts, Mminele said, “South Africa has witnessed the Commission’s work firsthand. We value this longstanding partnership and look forward to continued collaboration.” Fukuda also commended the commission for its “commitment to ensuring justice for victims of fraud.”
Hammajoda called for enhanced international cooperation, urging partners across America, Europe, Asia, and Africa to respond promptly to asset recovery requests.
“Just as we return recovered funds to you, we expect the same support for Nigeria,” he said.
The EFCC’s move underscores Nigeria’s growing commitment to tackling cross-border financial crimes and restoring stolen assets to victims worldwide.
