As the global Muslim community observes Eid al-Adha, the Yewa Muslim Community has issued a heartfelt message emphasizing the core values of faith, sacrifice, and community solidarity.
This message, delivered by Alhaji Nurudeen Bola Adesina, the General Secretary of the community, underscores the spiritual and social significance of this important Islamic festival.
Eid al-Adha, known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates the profound faith and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his son Ismail (AS).
In his address, Adesina highlighted the timeless lessons of devotion and submission to Allah (SWT) that this event symbolizes. “Eid al-Adha is a time for deep reflection and gratitude,” he said.
“It is an opportunity to contemplate the many blessings we have received and to express our thanks to Allah (SWT) for His endless mercy.”
Adesina called upon the members of the Yewa Muslim Community to embody the values exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
He emphasized that the festival’s true essence goes beyond the physical act of sacrifice and encompasses a broader commitment to the principles of compassion, generosity, and selflessness.
“This festival is not just about the physical act of sacrifice but also about the willingness to give up something valuable for the greater good,” he stated.
The message also focused on the importance of community engagement and mutual support, especially in light of the current economic and social challenges facing Nigeria.
Adesina urged the community to engage in acts of charity, support the less fortunate, and actively participate in community-building efforts.
“In these challenging times, the need for solidarity and support has never been greater,” he noted. “Extend your support to your neighbours, friends, and even strangers. A kind word, a helping hand, or a shared meal can bring immense relief and joy to others.”
Reflecting on the broader implications of Eid al-Adha, the Yewa Muslim Community reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a society built on mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation.
Adesina expressed hope for a future rooted in justice, equality, and compassion.
“By nurturing the principles of faith and humanity, we can overcome any challenge and create a better world for future generations,” he said.
The message concluded with prayers for peace, prosperity, and unity for Yewaland, Ogun State, and Nigeria at large.
