… MMPN Ogun Congratulates Muslims

Adherence to the lessons of Ramadan dominated the themes of messages from leaders in felicitation with Muslims on the celebration of Eid-El-Fitr.
President Muhammadu Buhari, President-elect, Bola Tinubu, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, among others, enjoined the Muslim faiths to remain steadfast and committed to doing good and showing love as preached and displayed during the Ramadan period.
In a goodwill message, President Buhari urged Nigerians to take the message of the fasting season, which indicated the daily plight of the underprivileged in society.
The statement was issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, to mark the end of the Ramadan fast.
On the Ramadan fast, the President congratulated Muslims on its successful completion, demanding spiritual obligation.
Praying to Allah to reward them for their sacrifices, he said: “We shouldn’t forget the important lessons of the Ramadan which includes improving our bond with the underprivileged and poor members of society.”
According to him, “abstaining from food and drinks during the fasting period has made it possible for us to appreciate the situation of those who go without eating every day,” the president said.
In another development, President-elect, Bola Tinubu, expressed in his message on the occasion of Eid-el-fitr, that Ramadan has helped refine our minds in pursuit of higher ideals.
He emphasized the need for Nigerians to love each other and work towards making the country great, while also expressing his readiness to walk with all Nigerians in the spirit of love and sacrifice.
Tinubu thanked Almighty Allah for the grace to witness this year’s Eid-el-fitr celebration after the Holy Month of Ramadan, which he described as a sacred spiritual obligation for Muslims around the world.
He acknowledged that with the help of Allah, Muslims have gone through a period of self-reflection, self-discipline, self-purification, and gratitude during the Holy Month.
Tinubu added: ”Beyond the self-abnegation and pious living that the fasting imposed on Muslims, the just concluded spiritual exercise have helped to improve our moral character.
“The period has also helped to refine our minds in pursuit of higher ideals for which there should be no turning back.
“At the heart of our faith and a major demand of all the faithful, is the requirement to commit ourselves to wholesome living.
“This entails love for one another, love for fellow humans regardless of creed, region and ethnicity, love for our communities and love for country.”
“To love one another, have compassion, empathy and love our beloved country means we must become better citizens in line with the teachings of Prophet Muhammed.
“We must constantly seek to become a better version of ourselves in patriotism, dedication to duty and honesty. We must also never be weary of doing what is right, fair and just to all.
“We are at the dawn of a Renewed Hope for a better, greater and a more prosperous Nigeria.
“And I stand ready to walk with all Nigerians, young and old, male and female with this opportunity to serve you in honour and dignity.
“This is a commitment that I have made and one in which we cannot afford to fail”.
Similarly, the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, congratulated Muslims in the state on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitri, marking the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Kunle Somorin, the governor urged Muslims to sustain the values and tenets they imbibed during Ramadan, including total devotion to Allah, good deeds, and constant remembrance of God.
He also called on Muslims to use the occasion of Eid-el-Fitri to pray for peace, unity, progress, and development in Nigeria, particularly in Ogun State.
While emphasizing the need for moderation in celebrating the festival, the governor urged Muslims to extend love and give to the less privileged in the spirit of Ramadan.
He reassured the people of his commitment to inter-religious harmony, good governance, and the provision of a secure environment for investors to enhance socio-economic development in the state.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that the sighting of the moon yesterday, by the moon sighting committee set up by the Sultan of Sokoto promoted the declaration of today, Friday, 21st April, 2023, as Eid-El-Fitr.
Yesterday, the SULTAN of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Muhammad Abubakar III, announced that today would be celebrated as Eid-el-fitr Day, marking the first day of Shawwal 1444 After Hijirah.
The announcement was made in a special statement at his palace in Sokoto, where he confirmed reports from various moon sighting committees at state and national levels that the new moon of Shawwal had been sighted.
The national moon sighting committee received reports from committees and organizations across the country confirming the sighting of the new moon.
“Therefore, Friday, 21st of April 2023 is the 1st Day of the month of Shawwal 1444 AH”, the monarch said.
He urged adherents of the Islamic faith to continue to pray for peace, Progress and development of the country while wishing them Allah’s guidance and blessings.
The Sultan, however, urged Nigerians to continue to leave in peace and harmony irrespective of religious or political differences, wishing Muslims “Happy Eid-el-fitr”.
Meanwhile, the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria,Ogun State has congratulated Muslims as they mark the end of 1444AH Ramadan .
The Convener of the association in Ogun State, Daud Olatunji urged Muslims to sustain the good tempo in the month of Ramadan .
The Convener stated this in a Sallah message issued on Friday .
He admonished the leaders and the led to fear Allah and work towards earning His mercies .
He also advised Muslims to pray for the country and Ogun state as well as the president-elect ,Bola Tinubu and the state governor, Dapo Abiodun for more of Allah’s guidance .
Olatunji while commending members of the association for their commitment towards the association and their efforts during the month of Ramadan especially at the special Tafsir held at its Mosque .
He however caked for more commitment to the association and righteous acts .
