As Muslims around the world celebrated Eid-el Kabir this Sunday, Honourable Abdulrasheed Kashamu, the youngest member of the Ogun State House of Assembly and Minority Whip, made headlines for his philanthropic efforts.

Representing Ijebu North Constituency 1, Kashamu upheld his family’s longstanding tradition of generosity, impacting thousands in his community.

In Ijebu Igbo, the Kashamu residence became a beacon of hope and goodwill as thousands gathered to receive cash and food items.

This annual tradition, started by his late father, Senator Buruji Kashamu, continues to bring joy and relief to many, reinforcing the family’s legacy of compassion and community support.

The atmosphere was charged with excitement and gratitude as Abdulrasheed Kashamu, embodying the spirit of Eid, distributed gifts to the eager crowd.

The diverse assembly included people of all ages, united in their anticipation of the generous donations that would enhance their celebrations.

As early as 9 am, the 27-year-old lawmaker was at the Muslim Praying Ground in Oke Alafia, Atikori, Ijebu Igbo, participating in the Eid prayers.

PLATFORM TIMES reports that upon returning home, Kashamu ordered the gates open to welcome the teeming crowd.

His personal involvement in handing out cash and food items—neatly packed in envelopes, sacks, and carrier bags—was a testament to his hands-on approach and dedication to his constituents.

Speaking to reporters, Kashamu expressed his gratitude and outlined the purpose behind the day’s activities.

“I thank Almighty Allah for granting me and my people the opportunity and benefit of witnessing the celebration of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir,” he said.

“In continuation of the legacy laid down by my father, the late Senator Buruji Kashamu, we have made arrangements to reach out to about 8,000 people within our community and beyond with food items and cash, irrespective of sex, religion, race, or political leaning.”

Kashamu emphasized the deeper meaning of Eid, highlighting its call to humility, empathy, and sharing.

He said  “our activities today underscore the purpose of the Eid celebration. It is a call to humility, empathy, and sharing of joy, peace, and happiness with the people.

“I am only an instrument in His hands to put smiles on the faces of the vulnerable, the old, the young, and even children.

“That is my greatest joy and it gives me a sense of fulfillment. Eid Mubarak to all the Muslim Ummah.”

PLATFORM TIMES further reports  that Kashamu’s philanthropic efforts not only continue his father’s legacy but also set a powerful example for the next generation of leaders.
