Unlike his counterparts in many parts of the country, Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun has refused to make any appointment eight days after he was sworn in for second term in office .

Abiodun was declared winner of March 18, governorship election in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission, after defeating other co-contestants including the People’s Democratic Party governorship candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu.

PLATFORM TIMES reports that  governors of Oyo states and Kwara, Seyi Makinde and  AbdulRahmah AbdulRazaq and many others have made new appointments after they were sworn in.

Abiodun was sworn in on May 29 to renew his second and last term as governor of the state.

But, since last week Sunday (eight days) after his swearing in,  the governor had not made any appointment which has kept his loyalists and politicians in suspense .

However, PLATFORM TIMES gathered that, the governor who was not impressed with  the performance of some of the former  cabinet members and party leader’s as well as members  during the election, was under pressure to name some people for a few posts.

PLATFORM TIMES further gathered that while Abiodun  had not announced  the appointment of his cabinet members, a few of former cabinet members  were said to be working unofficially .

Investigation on why Abiodun decided to put his loyalists in suspense revealed that poor performance both at the polls and in government might be responsible.

It was however established that Abiodun was taking his time to make appointment including his spokesperson.

Interactions with some political analysts in the state, pointed to the fact that the likes of his former Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi and ex-Commissioner for Finance , Dapo Okubadejo have not left their offices in real sense .

They were said to be performing their roles without being noticed until the governor made up his mind to make it public .

PLATFORM TIMES however observed that the government had been  standstill following Abiodun’s refusal to name his spokesperson .

Confusion reigns amongst journalists on who to speak for the government .

Recalled that, Abiodun who named his former Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin a few days after his inauguration  as a first term governor in 2019, had yet to either reappoint Somorin or his  replacement .

While it was almost clear that Somorin might be asked to continue as CPS, it was not clear that the former Commissioner for Information ,Waheed Odusile would be returned due to his poor performance .

Some politicians who spoke with PLATFORM TIMES on when Abiodun would begin the appointment, hinted that a few  appointments might  be made this week .
