    English language Classroom Week 32 : Altogether And All Together

    The word altogether and the expression all together appear to be close in meaning whereas they are quite different from each other.

    While altogether is an adverb which also means completely, totally, entirely, absolutely etc., all together is a phrase which implies everyone or everything in a group gathered in one place or at the same time.

    Below are examples of their usages: There’s no half-way execution of the project.

    It has to be done altogether. Please, bring your clothes and bags for me to arrange them all together.

    However, if you are still confused, just replace any of the word or expression above with together. If it makes sense, you can go ahead to use all together, but if it doesn’t, just use altogether.
