The Enugu State Water Cooperation’s Deputy Director, 56-year-old Mr. Emeka Edoh, faced charges of false pretense, accused of defrauding Enugu residents of N150,000 under the guise of rectifying water bills.

Chief Magistrate Joseph Agu presided over the arraignment, where Edoh, represented by counsel Barr. E.E. Ezekwe, pleaded not guilty.

Despite arguments for bail, Senior Legal Officer Barr. Onyinye Ugwu contested, deeming the offense severe. Ultimately, Magistrate Agu granted bail at N500,000, with stringent conditions.

Meanwhile, Onyeka Nicholas, Okechukwu Umeh, Monday Udeh, and Tochukwu Eze faced separate charges of illegal roadblocks, intimidation, and extortion.

Despite their arraignment, Magistrate Agu denied bail, emphasizing the gravity of their alleged offenses.

These developments come amidst Governor Peter Mbah’s recent crackdown on illegal activities, including roadblocks and revenue collection, reaffirming the state’s commitment to upholding the law.
