Mrs. Joan Orajiobi, a resident of Nnewi in Anambra, embraced an unexpected New Year’s surprise as she gave birth to triplets on January 1st in a private hospital in Enugu.

Orajiobi, a hairdresser residing in Ologo Quarters, Uwani Enugu, expressed her astonishment as she initially believed the pregnancy, discovered in May 2023, was carrying twins.

The labor commenced on Saturday, and after seeking medical attention on Sunday, she successfully delivered two girls and a boy on Monday.

“I am a hairdresser with two girls already, and when the scan revealed twins, I never anticipated triplets. Today, God blessed me with a January gift and New Year Bonanza,” shared Orajiobi, who continued working throughout her pregnancy despite minor discomfort.

Despite the joy of the arrival of the triplets, the family now faces financial challenges.

Orajiobi, in a heartfelt plea, called on Nigerians, particularly the governors of Enugu and Anambra States, for assistance.

The medical expenses incurred for the Caesarian Section delivery have amounted to N450,000.

Her husband, Mr. Cornelius Orajiobi, a trader from Obiofia in Nnewi North Local Government Area, echoed the plea for support.

“This gift is bigger than what I can cater for alone. Nigerians, please assist us,” he earnestly requested.

The Orajiobi family is hopeful that their call for assistance will be answered, providing a helping hand as they navigate the responsibilities of caring for their newborn triplets.
