EPL: He’ll leave Old Trafford – Owen predicts manager to take over from Ten Hag

Former Manchester United striker, Michael Owen, has predicted that the club’s assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy will take over from current manager Erik ten Hag in the future if he doesn’t leave Old Trafford before his fellow countryman.

Owen believes Ten Hag ‘will leave Man United at some point’ in the near future and Van Nistelrooy will replace him as an interim manager.

Ten Hag has not had the easiest of times in charge at the Red Devils.

Man United finished in eighth position last season under his guidance.

However, he has not been sacked by the club’s board.

“It’s an interesting situation for Ruud van Nistelrooy at Manchester United because if it is five games, 50 games or 500 games, Erik ten Hag will go at some point,” Owen told OLBG (via Mirror).

“When it does happen the club will look for a new manager and because that takes time, there is often an interim coach or a caretaker while that search happens.”

He added, “So if Van Nistelrooy doesn’t leave before Ten Hag, you would think that he would get a handful of games as managers like Ryan Giggs and Michael Carrick have done in the past. Even Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was temporary and he did well.”
