EPL: He’s not good enough – Paul Scholes expresses concern over Man Utd’s new signing

Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes, has expressed his concern over their new signing Matthijs de Ligt.

Man United had on Tuesday announced the signing of De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich.

However, the former England midfielder feels De Ligt is not good enough, adding that the Dutchman is a second-rated defender.

“You know what? Manchester United are talking about bringing players in who won’t get in their team. He’s not played for them,” Scholes said (via Manchester Evening News).

“That’s a big concern for me, especially when Eric Dier’s playing in front of him. I’m not joking; that is a massive concern for me.

“You are bringing in players for £40million, £50million, okay, just because he’s played for them three or four years ago.”

Scholes added: “Juventus got rid of him; he wasn’t good enough at Juventus, he obviously has not been good enough for Bayern Munich. He’s coming to us almost like a second-rate defender now.”
