Former Premier League star, Jamie Redknapp, has described Lisandro Martinez’s tackle on Cole Palmer as reckless and nasty.
He said the Argentine defender should have been sent off during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday.
Chelsea played out a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday with Caicedo cancelling out Bruno Fernandes’ penalty strike for United.
Redknapp joined voices with other pundits who believed the challenge was dangerous and should have attracted a straight red card instead of the yellow shown by the ref.
Redknapp told the Sky Sports that Martinez knew what he was doing, saying:
“It’s reckless, it’s nasty, he knows exactly what he’s doing.
“He’s got that nasty streak in him. Look at how high he gets his leg, there’s no need for it.”
