EPL: My message was clear – Maresca reveals strong warning he gave Chelsea’s two new signings

Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca has revealed the strong warning he gave the club’s two summer signings, Jadon Sancho and Joao Felix before they joined the Premier League west London club during the summer transfer window.

Maresca said he warned the duo that if they ‘don’t work hard, then they won’t play’ in his team.

Recall that Sancho completed a surprise loan move to Chelsea from Manchester United on transfer deadline day with an obligation to buy.

Felix, meanwhile, joined Maresca’s side from Atletico Madrid.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League tie with Bournemouth on Saturday night, Maresca said at his pre-match press conference:

“Before they joined the club, I had a chat with them, and one of my messages to them was if you come here and don’t work properly then you are not going to play.

“Before they arrived, the message for them was clear. For Jadon. For Joao.

“But the reason why I’m speaking to you is because I really like you. If you come here in the way that we want, we are happy.

“But if you come there and don’t work hard, it’s better if you don’t come.”
