EPL: Ten Hag names two players that will improve Man Utd

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has said the team’s performances will improve when he has left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia fit again.

Ten Hag has come under pressure at United following last weekend’s 3-0 defeat to Tottenham and Thursday’s 3-3 draw with Porto.

Shaw has not played this season due to a calf issue, while Malacia has not played since the summer of 2023 due to a knee injury.

Ten Hag has previously said he doesn’t expect either to return before the October international break.

When asked about Diogo Dalot’s makeshift role at left-back, Ten Hag told reporters: “Why Dalot at left back? For the patterns I prefer in this moment Diogo [to Noussair Mazraoui]. Both of course are right full backs.

“For a long time we’ve had a personnel issue there. We will improve as a team if we get a consistent left-footed left full-back. We are waiting for Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia to return to he squad, that will definitely help consistent performance levels.”
