Former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola, has congratulated Comrade Akeem Abiodun Lasisi on his re-election as Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Ogun State.
Lasisi was returned unopposed on Thursday, August 21, 2025, following the overwhelming support of delegates who endorsed his leadership for another term.
In a congratulatory message personally signed by him, Isola described the victory as a testimony to the confidence Ogun workers repose in Lasisi’s leadership style, which he said has been people-driven and purposeful.
According to the diplomat, the renewed mandate represents not just a ballot victory but a collective declaration of trust in the labour leader’s capacity to defend workers’ rights and sustain industrial harmony in the state.
“The strength of a union lies not in the numbers it commands, but in the unity it sustains and the courage of its leadership. By overwhelmingly returning you to office, the workers of Ogun State have spoken with one voice,” Isola said.
He added that the re-election was a “beacon of continuity” that would further consolidate the role of labour as the backbone of democracy and social justice.
While praying for renewed wisdom and strength for the labour leader, Isola expressed optimism that Lasisi’s second term would bring greater progress to the state’s workforce and enhance the dignity of labour.
